Cheers Magick Makers,
Kieran

Grand tidings and welcome to you on this, the Forty-Eighth Episode, of Beyond the Seas. My name is Kieran and here we are again, back at it for another week. Happy New Moon, y’all, happy new moon. Now Magick Makers, if there is anything in the world that is worse than a cold, I can’t think of it right now…except mosquitoes. We hate mosquitoes. And colds hahaha. But here we are, with an extra magickal and amazing interview from our collaboration with Crossed Crow Books: Kamden Cornell is such a funny, smart, witchy, and magickal human being—and I so thoroughly enjoyed our conversation together. Before we get too far into it, though: the plugs time. @beyondtheseaspodcast over on Insta, and Claudia’s account, @thefeatherwitchnyc, to follow along with our weekly tarot collaboration—wherein Claudia teaches the tarot one card at a time, one week at a time. Also, our collaboration with Crossed Crow Books, @crossedcrowbooks. Finally, consider signing up for one of the tiers over on our Patreon, patreon.com/BeyondtheSeas. We have a new drop coming in hot for you all so very soon, a new ritual for the upcoming astrological happenings. And Claudia and I will soon premiere our very first Coven Chat there in the next few weeks, right alongside an interview with GennaRose Nethercott, author of Thistlefoot—and researcher for the Lore podcast, can you believe?! Finally, please leave a five-star rating and review, on your platform of choice, so the show may course its way through the interwebs and find new Magick Makers the world over. I am so, so, so happy you are all here, sharing some time with me on the show, today.

And now, artistic and literary updates! Auditions are coming in, huzzah! So that’s a piece of good news there. And: Thistlefoot is done! Thistlefoot is done! And my heart is sad to see it end. It was such a lovely book to read, as a deep dive into Baba Yaga folklore and legend. Now, two things: when you sign up for our Patreon, you will see our interview there with GennaRose Nethercott, the author of Thistlefoot. It was an amazing interview with her, as Claudia and myself sat down to discuss her research and artistry for the novel. Secondly, look forward to more Baba Yaga folklore coming up here on the show next week. That’s all. Hahaha.

And now, the Card of the Week! There is big Gandalf energy coming through this week, Magick Makers, I gotta tell ya. Because Claudia pulled The King of Wands, I sat with it for a while and really allowed energies and thoughts to flow from it to me. The figure of the King is staring at either his grand staff, or off in the distance. The figures and atmosphere of the desert-like surroundings suggest a heat, a palpability, a resonance for movement and passion. But also a contemplation. A way that is both inward and outward. With Nature itself coming to remind him—us—that the roar of the lion is held deep within and may make itself known when called upon. I hope all of this is making sense ahahaha, but suffice it to say that big changes are once again happening. Hold firmly onto what motivates and supports you this week, as you peer off into the distance for the energies that are swirling your way.

And now, the Wine of the Week! So, Magick Makers, here is the next big announcement for the show! I had the pleasure of speaking with Chad, the host of the Radical Elphame podcast, over on Insta—shortly after the show’s interview with Albert Björn Shiell; and come to find out, Chad and I share a love for the bubbly, the vino, the wine. He works for Iruai winery, on the border between Oregon and California. The winery itself specializes in growing alpine varietals for a natural and fun drinking wine, and may be found at iruaiwine.com. Thus, over the course of this week and the next five, Beyond the Seas is proud and elated to partner with Iruai and Chad to review six of their wines here on the podcast. The first bottle I dove into was Iruai’s 2023 Cosmic Cowboy Cabernet Sauvignon—boy, when I took the first sip, I said, “woah!” The first thing I tasted was strawberry and a sweet carbonation that made me smile and do a little happy dance. It has the familiar tones of oak, tobacco, and cherry, but strong notes of earth, atmosphere, clouds, plum, allspice, and chocolate. It hits the front of the tongue, then finishes out throughout the entirety of the palette, which I so thoroughly enjoyed. So overall, Magick Makers, I am so excited to see what next week’s bottle brings—and to plugging Iruai Winery and Radical Elphame Podcast again and again, both linked below in the show notes, of course.

And, finally, this week’s topic. I had the pleasure of sitting down with Kamden Cornell only a few nights ago, to discuss their newly published work The Tameless Path: Unleashing the Power of Invasive Plants in Witchcraft. It is a wonderful conversation that spans so many topics included in their book: Planetary Pentacles, relationships, the top five things to do when beginning this kind of work, and so many more. So settle in for a wonderful chat between myself and Kamden Cornell.

Ergo, grab your favorite bottle of red, find a comfy chair, and close your eyes as Kamden Cornell and I take you…
